Lori S Malkin Design LLC was founded in 1997 after deciding to take a short break from the day-to-day crazy world of big city publishing. That “short break” turned into a lifelong decision as I discovered that the slower pace of suburbia allowed for more creative freedom and more opportunity to grow as a designer. My business moved with me from the suburbs of New York City to coastal Connecticut, and in recent years brought me to agricultural south-central Pennsylvania.
My strongest asset is a passion for, and focus on, my work. I try to bring extraordinary attention-to-detail and a strong sense of organization to every project. Client satisfaction is my primary goal. Communication is key, and client input is welcome at every stage of a project in order to produce the most outstanding product that I am able.
I have years of desktop publishing expertise in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Illustrator (and I’ve even been known to unearth that dinosaur, QuarkXpress, when a client asks.) I specialize in book design — specifically gift books, children’s books, craft books, and cookbooks — but also have vast experience in logo design, branding, marketing collateral, and so much more.
Some of my satisfied clients include: Rizzoli International Publications; Harper Collins Publishers; Universe; Better Day Books, Inc.; The Mid Island Y JCC; The Suffolk Y JCC; York Suburban Education Foundation; Arena Books Associates; Leisure Arts, Inc; Print Matters Productions, Inc.; as well as many other independent book packagers, small-businesses, and non-profit organizations.

Some recommendations for Lori S Malkin Design:
“Lori designed my new book, “How to Give Your Business an Extreme Marketing Makeover.” When I hand it to someone, they rave about the cover and the inside layout. (Ultimately, I hope they’ll read the book, too.) Working with Lori was a real pleasure. She was quick, highly professional, and extremely accommodating when I wanted to see something slightly different. In the end, I always seemed to go with what she presented to me initially. She really knows her business!” Gil Effron, October 15, 2010
“Lori is the only designer I know who actually reads the books that she is designing. She cares deeply about her work and in creating the best books possible. Since our first book together–“The Marines” in 1998–I have worked with Lori on countless projects. I have always come away very pleased with both the process and the finished product.” James Muschett, December 3, 2009
“Lori is a graphic designer with confidence, energy, and style. And the books she designs reflect this. Her mastery of the process is evident in the crisp layouts she delivers on schedule with problems solved. Anyone producing illustrated books would be lucky to have Lori on their team.” Leslie Carola, December 10, 2009
“What has always impressed me about Lori’s book designs is that, in addition to being technically flawless, they have a great deal of creative energy and style. Her work tends to include those little creative flourishes—always appropriate to the book’s content—which elevate the design from simply polished to charming. Along with her creativity, Lori is a true professional. She has endless patience for the many rounds of small revisions that are part of so many big projects, and remains committed to delivering the highest quality work throughout the process.” Charles Schoenfeld, December 6, 2011
“Lori was an outstanding employee at my company Total Visuals in NYC. She could always be depended to produce excellent results. I highly recommend using her for any projects that you are considering.” Bill Perez, December 6, 2009
